Picnic

This afternoon is going by too slow and I am daydreaming of a lazy afternoon under some lush trees in a setting so beautiful it is difficult to believe that it really exists... sigh!
Where would your perfect picnic spot be?

This is where I want to be right now!
This doesn't look to bad either!

And then of course, the all important question, who would you take with?

Is it a friend or a lover?
Or would you prefer to spend your afternoon alone?

Just you and a good book

Weekend, oh lovely weekend

With the close of this loooooong and dreary week winking at us I am delighted with the prospects of good company over a glass of vino and a home cooked meal (which I will be constructing soon), seeing my younger sister visiting from Cape Town and spending some much needed quality time with the husband.

This image illustrates how I would like to spend my weekend - long lazy summer, sigh. Although I will not be spending my weekend quite like this, I hope this can set the tone for what I am desperately yearning for.

Have a good and happy weekend.

The Perfect day

If I could write a list of all the things I would do in my perfect day, this list would not be too far off...

I wish! Right now I would also settle for a summery day spent outside! Watermelon and good company... Sigh, this week has been too long!

Early morning bliss

So its Monday morning and spring is in the air!
I went for a morning training session in the park next to the Emmarentia Dam and I feel alive!

I met with the training group at 05:30 while it was still dark, but within 15minutes the sun slowly greeted the day and the ducks and geese also moved onto the water - wow! It is these gems that exist in the middle of the concrete jungle that keeps me sane.

While we were training a single paddler in his K1 canoe started doing a morning training session_ just him on the water_ it looked amazing! Maybe I should consider paddling? The husband does it, perhaps I should join him? Mmmmm, watch this space!

Dancing the night away

I am not a dancer, not by any measure. I've never imagined myself being a ballerina and although I did try ballet for a few months at the age of seven my mother's, my teacher's and my own frustration ensured that this venture was very short lived.

That said, I still loooooooove watching ballet. It never seizes to amaze me what people can do with their bodies and how, through controlled and correctly timed movements, they can create the most beautiful, gracious and flowing movements imaginable. I always watch in absolute awe.

Browsing the net I found these amazing images that capture exactly this art and skill of ballet and I just had to share - WOW!

Coffee in bed please

To wake up feeling well rested and ready for the day does not happen everyday. Some nights I look at my clock and I cannot believe where the hours had gone and when I eventually get to bed I know I'm going to struggle in the morning. Although I am a morning person, given half a chance I could easily ignore the alarm and snooze way past what is commonly acceptable.

Unlike my usual morning battle, this morning was a breeze! I woke up early enough to still steal 20 minutes with my book and although I was hoping to get served coffee in bed by my studying husband, getting up and making myself a cup of tea was just as rewarding, as I got right back into bed :).

Wishing I can get a few more mornings like these every week!

Hello sunshine

Spring is definitely in the air! I woke up rather early for a Saturday morning and went for a run in shorts and a T-shirt - a first since our freezing cold winter.

I decided to set up office on my stoep, as I have designated today to catch up on some much needed admin and work - the best idea EVER! Whilst clicking away on my laptop I was surrounded by the sounds of birdsong, the neighbouring children's laughter and even an ice cream truck a few minutes ago. After feeling so miserable about being trapped in the concrete jungle yesterday, today could not have been better!

Now, as I have completed the work that I have set out to do, in a surprisingly enjoyable manner, I am looking forward to putting my feet up and enjoying the rest of the weekend.

I am smiling!
