Hello dear readers, I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that this week will be exciting for all!
I
am sitting here thinking of the lovely few days that made up this past
weekend. There is no real highlight for the past few days, but the
combination of good friendship, great laughs, love from the husband,
family unity and overall happy moments made up a great few days! I am
however aware that perhaps I am adding more worth to these ordinary
events because I know what is coming... soon.
It
is official - the husband and I will be moving to the UK in October!
Smile, frown, stomach churning, jump up and down moments for me at this
point in time! Although the where, what and when still need to be
finalised we have received the confirmation of our move last week -
happiness!!!
So
you can expect some exciting posts on this matter in the next few
months! Although this decision to relocate is daunting I am filled with
anticipation and excitement for what might be.
I am off to our game reserve Kurumakatiti this weekend - not all fun and games though, we are meeting with a potential contractor to build our new lodge - exciting and a little bit scary all at the same time!!!
View of the site for our new lodge, taken from a cave situated about 100m from the site.
Here is another picture I took from this cave on our last visit - how beautiful is this!?
A Paperbark Corkwood tree growing on the ledge of a cliff.
A friend asked me yesterday if I can bring her back some fresh air from the farm and my immediate reaction was to laugh, but this also made me think of how lucky we are to have this natural gem right at our doorstep and it made me appreciate the farm even more!
My worded inspiration for the week, inspired by my friend's request:
What a weekend!! I had such an inspiring weekend and am I filled with awe, appreciation, gratitude and excitement for this time that we are living in!
The husband and I kicked of our weekend with a visit to South Africa's biggest Agricultural Trade Show - NAMPO on Friday. All this "stadsjapie", the afrikaans word for city-slicker, can say is WOW! The implements, product development and growth is amazing and I was stunned at what methods are being used to improve and grow our agricultural industry. After the show we went to visit the husband's uncle on his farm, Baltuspoort, just outside Viljoenskroon, a small Freestate town, and I was yet again left in awe in seeing and experiencing such a rich family and South African heritage that was unknown to me.
The highlight of my weekend however was a night out to Odd Cafe in Greenside. A group of us went for dinner and watched a live music performance by Stefan Dixon - a great South African musician from Cape Town. Be it the songs he sang, the street cafe environment, yummy food and wine, good company or a combination of it all - this night definitely ranks on my top list for the year!
Here is a song by Stefan, Lets build a world - I absolutely love it!
Have a great week dear readers and may you always find inspiration in the little things in life!
