Out and about in Jo'burg

I had such a splendid outing last night, one that I feel I must share today.

At 15:00 yesterday afternoon the husband phoned to say that he is taking me on a date and that I had to be dressed and ready for an evening out at 19:00.

Following orders I was dressed and ready at the said time.
What followed was an event that I think our generation do not support and appreciate enough and that is also why I've decided to write about it today.

I was taken to a performance by the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra!

What an amazing experience! I cannot remember when last I've seen a live orchestra play. So many musicians playing together and producing such beautiful, flowing and harmonious music that takes one to a place of tranquility and peace, that gives the mind a moment to pause and restart, that sooths the soul and cleanses all the bad of the world. Yes I am getting too poetic, but I want to stress how wonderful this outing was!

If you are in Jo'burg _ do yourself a favour and try to attend one of their performances and for those in different cities, towns and countries, I suggest you make work of finding out about your local performers.

Here is a video of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra performing
Prokofiev symphony No 7 / 3rd movement Andante espressivo under conductor Noam Zur in September 2007.

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
